  • 6. Ronnie's Hi-D-Way

With a pool table, outdoor basketball court, and large dance floor, Ronnie's is the most popular local hangout in Governor's Harbour. The scene really takes off on Friday and Saturday night, when the bar hosts a DJ. If you drop in for a drink on the weekend, expect to stay a while for dancing to popular reggae and hip-hop tunes.

  • 7. Elvina's Bar and Restaurant

    Closed Permanently

A one-room bar with a small stage and dance floor, Elvina's has been a musical and social institution for 30 years. A live band plays every Saturday, and you can't miss open-mike nights, where you never know who will walk in the door and sing—Kid Rock, Mariah Carey, the Black Crows, or Lenny Kravitz, who lives nearby. The place doesn't really get hopping until after 9 pm.

Enter through the marine life–muraled hallway at Seagrapes to a large nightclub with a raised stage that's home to the local Brilanders band. Seagrapes is usually the last stop in the local club crawl which begins at Gusty's and moves on to Daddy D's, before ending up here or the Vic-Hum.

  • 9. The Sunset Lounge

    Closed Permanently

The new Sunset Lounge formally known as Elvina's derives its name from the breathtaking views from the balcony at dusk. Guests can enjoy live sessions with local bands on a Friday night while dining indoors, outside on the porch, or up on the sunset deck.

  • 10. Vic-Hum Club

    Closed Permanently

Vic-Hum Club, owned by "Ma" Ruby Percentie's son Humphrey, occasionally hosts live Bahamian bands in a room decorated with classic record-album covers; otherwise, you'll find locals playing Ping-Pong and listening and dancing to loud recorded music, from calypso to American pop and R&B. Mick Jagger and other rock stars have dropped by. Look for the largest coconut ever grown in the Bahamas—33 inches in diameter—on the bar's top shelf.
