3 Best Shopping in Andros, Bimini, and the Berry Islands, Bahamas

Bimini Craft Centre & Straw Market

Alice Town

Near the Government Public Dock in Alice Town, this craft center features the original straw, wood-carving, and craft works of myriad islanders. Products are showcased over 17 stalls. A great place for tie-dye resort wear and T-shirts, there's also some amazing food to be had. Make sure to stop at Nathalie Thompson's Bread stand to try a loaf of decadent Bimini bread. Think hot challah with sugar glaze.

Fisherman's Village Marina

This 136-slip full-service marina, one of two marinas at Resorts World Resort & Marina, doubles as North Bimini's main touristic shopping village. Adjacent to the reception area, the "village" houses Bimini Undersea dive shop, a liquor and grocery store, an ice-cream shop, a gourmet pizzeria, a café and deli, a clothing boutique, and the surprisingly affordable and good-value Healing Hole Rum Bar & Grill (only open 11 am–4 pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).

Trev Inn Marketplace

Alice Town

Trev Inn has probably the largest selection of groceries and produce on North Bimini. It's located four buildings south of the pink-color Bimini Clinic in Porgy Bay, a short distance from Resorts World. (Also, Brown's is nearby, and farther south is Roberts' Grocery Store, near the big power station in Bailey Town, and Jontra's, near the Bimini Big Game Club.) The mail boat comes in Thursday, so it's best to shop for fresh produce Thursday evening, Friday, and Saturday. Exploring local grocery stores is quaint and amusing except when you get to the cash register: with costly freight, import duties, and 7.5% VAT, expect to pay about double. To save money, bring coolers packed with fresh and frozen food.
