You can still rent three-bedroom Marlin Cottage, the place where Hemingway wrote parts of Islands in the Steam, and knock back daiquiris in the wood-paneled bar. Rooms in the main building are well worn but comfortable. Additional rooms and suites, which have large windows and private patios, have a circa-1960 south Florida theme. The Anchorage restaurant, overlooking the ocean, serves excellent fresh seafood and has satellite TV. Situated in the middle of town, the resort gives access to other places to eat, as well. The 32-slip marina and dockside pool are across the road on the lee side of the island.
