Conch Sound Resort Inn Review

This secluded, ground-level inn several miles northeast of Nicholl's Town on the road to Conch Sound has six simple but clean and spacious motel-style rooms with carpeting, mahogany furniture, handmade quilts, soft-cushioned chairs, and cable TV. There are also four two-bedroom suites with modern furnishings, kitchens, and an overindulgence of pink. If you'd prefer not to cook, go to the restaurant for basic Bahamian fare. The beach is a two-minute walk away, but the hotel will provide transportation when it can. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly, and will make you feel like family. Bonefishing, diving, deep-sea fishing, and even wild-boar hunting can be arranged.

We were made to pay three nights in advance. First night someone entered the room and stole $500. When first reported to manager the response was to deny and ignore. Third night we discovered that the security iron door latch was corroded and the door could be opened with a slight push although lock was in place. When reported to the owner he became abusive, accused us of lying, insulting his "honor" and went on a ten minute screaming tirade. When the manager (his daughter) tried to mollify him he became physically abusive to her. We paid the last night but 10 min. later his son arrived, appeared to be under influence of drugs, and screamed obsenities at us outside the room, smashing the hall wall. We vacated the premises immediately, fearing for our safety.
