Aruba is 2 1/2 hours from Miami, 4 1/2 hours from New York, and 9 1/2 hours from Amsterdam. The flight from New York to San Juan, Puerto Rico takes 3 1/2 hours; from Miami to San Juan it's 1 1/2 hours; and from San Juan to Aruba it's just over an hour. Shorter still is the 15-30 minute hop (depending on whether you take a prop or a jet plane) from Curacao to Aruba.

Aruba's Aeropuerto Internacional Reina Beatrix (Queen Beatrix International Airport, AUA), near the island's south coast, is a modern, passenger-friendly facility.

A taxi from the airport to most hotels takes about 20 minutes. It'll cost $17 to get to the hotels along Eagle Beach, $20 to the high-rise hotels on Palm Beach, and $10 to the hotels downtown (rates are a few dollars higher at night). You'll find a taxi stand right outside the baggage-claim area.
There are nonstop flights to Aruba from Boston, Charlotte, Chicago (seasonal service), Houston, Miami, Newark, New York–JFK, and Philadelphia. Canadian travelers may fly nonstop during high travel season but must connect through the United States or Caracas, Venezuela at other times.
Checking in, paying departure taxes (if they aren't included in your ticket), clearing security, and boarding can take time on Aruba. Because security has gotten tighter, get to the airport at least three hours ahead of time. You may be randomly selected for inspection of your carry-on baggage at the gate. Regulations prohibit packing certain items in your carry-on luggage, including matches, lighters, and handheld radios. Check with your hotel concierge before packing to return home.
