  Enjoyable stay's

  We have stayed at the Radisson in May of 2006 and Dec. 2007. Prior to that we have stayed at other hotels for 5 previous visits. Yes, the hotel is "older" looking than some of the others, and may not have the update renovations of others, but it still is one of the better high rise hotels. We have stayed in the Bonaire building and like the room and location. We like the second floor as it is non-smoking and quiet. We are only a few steps from Laguna, which we like for breakfast. Okay, a couple of the staff can use an attitude adjustment; but in general most of the staff are very helpful and cheerful. The changing evening buffet is a nice, inexpensive option even though the quality could use some improvement. But with all the good restaurants, you don't have to lock yourself into eating there. We like the beach better than the other hotels; it is quieter and cleaner, although with the new RIU next door it is getting noisier. Also, the private vendors of watersports and umbrellas located on the beach between the two resorts catering to the cruise ship passengers have spoiled it somewhat. We are not crazy about the sleep number beds; we have had more comfortable beds elsewhere. We enjoy the lunch meals at Gilligan's because it is close to the beach and the food is good enough with relatively quick service - although pricey. And the two zero-entry pools are nice. Happen to think the palapa reservation policy of doing it the afternoon before is a great idea; have not had to wait more than 20 minutes in line to get a great location for the next day. Much better than getting up early in the morning and standing in line. Have not eaten in the Sunset Grill so cannot speak to it. Have always been happy with the service of most of the staff, and made a point to talk to the general manager. Probably has one of the better landscaped property's. And it is in a good location to walk to all the other hotels in the area.
  All in all, we may have stayed at nicer resorts (adult only in Mexico), but we like the Aruba Radisson when we stay in Aruba. That's why we are staying there again in July and Sept. of 2008.

  In Need of Upgrade!!

  Just returned from Aruba. Was my second stay at the Radisson (first was in 2003). I was so disappointed to see that they have let this hotel go. It has a very tired & worn look. The rooms smelled of mold & were falling apart. We had lots of mold around our tub & shower curtains. The sink faucet was leaking. The bed pillar was broken. The outdoor light was not working. The iron was rusty & leaking all over our clothing. The lobby lounge chairs were falling apart. It was so disappointing! The assistant room manager was very helpful & responsive to our complaints. But we could not believe the degree of deterioration in 4yrs. The grounds & pool area remain well keeped & was what made our stay here worth it. We also visited the Larimar spa which was really nice. The lobby eatery was ok but expensive. And make sure you dont forget any toiletries cuz the gift shop was super expensive. Gilligan's remains decent for lunch but their drinks are outrageously expensive (minimum price for margarita $10). I really hope that Radisson gives this place a facelift because its current conditions are sad & shameful.
