An intimate, family-run hotel with a genuinely friendly staff and an authentic Dutch-Caribbean atmosphere, this little place offers excellent value for the money. The gabled mustard-yellow hotel is built around a central courtyard with a waterfall pool and wading pool. Eagle Beach is right across the road (guests can have lunch or dinner served on the beach). The pool bar is buzzing late into the night, and the bartender keeps everyone fully entertained. Tile-floor rooms range from small, elegantly appointed studios (some with ocean-view balconies) to two-bedroom suites with peaked ceilings and whirlpool tubs; all have kitchenettes. The restaurants serve good, reasonably priced meals. Web devotees can use the free bank of computers near reception. Pros: compound feels like a European village; very good family restaurant; friendly and helpful staff; minigrocery on-site; recently completely renovated. Cons: across the road from the beach; lacks the boutiques and distractions of a larger hotel.
