The Dande Stroll

The Dande Stroll Review

New Year's Eve is a big deal in most places, but on Aruba the fireworks that light up the sky at midnight are just the beginning. The Dande Stroll continues throughout New Year's Day. Groups of musicians stroll from house to house, singing good-luck greetings for the New Year. A prize is awarded to the group with the best song, which is sung by islanders during the next 12 months. Dande, by the way, comes from the Papiamento word "dandara," which means "to have a good time."
