Restaurants that feature a prominent theme to attract customers are not usually palaces of fine dining. Buccaneer has been drawing tourists in droves for more than 20 years, and lines are par for the course during high season. The hook here is the sunken ship atmosphere -- complete with a 5,000-gallon aquarium. The restaurant's main focus is seafood, but once the novelty of the decor has worn off, it becomes obvious that the food is comparable to an average North American seafood chain. The constant din of noisy children attests to the nautical setting's kiddie appeal. The restaurant participates in AGA's Dine-Around program.

Valentine dinner

Our all over experience of the Buccaneer is 100%. We were happy to finally see that Buccaneer took reservations on line. From the moment we stepped into the Buccaneer on Valentines Day we were excited. The wait was long but becuase we had reservations we had a table waiting for us facing the large aquariums. The turtle's astonished us. We were greeted within a minute, water in pewter glass served and menu. We could not believe the extensive menu entrees and were happy with our choices.
Fruits of the 7 seas and Escargot as our appetizer, 2 ceasar salads, Chefs special of the day " Tenderloin topped with garlic prawn and Surf & Turf with our favorite wine (total dinner under $80.00 for 2). We have to say oz for oz- $$ for $$ we were 100% satisfied with our first dinner experience at Buccaneer.
For anyone who has been reading bad reviews please do me a favor don't listen, try for yourself. We did and are happy to finally see for ourselves.

Buccaneer is our favorite

Buccaneer to our family is our favorite. We are simple people from Boston who enjoy a good dinner and for the last 11 years Buccaneer has always served us with delicious entrees at a resonable price. Why go to an expensive restauarant when you can pay less and get great service with an ambiance to relax and enjoy.

I'd Rather Walk the Plank

The food here leaves a lot to be desired. The lobster bisque was not good, and there was entirely too much going on with every plate (plantains, rice, mixed veggies, main course...) Spend your money elsewhere

Buccaneer is no#1 just as Aruba

I am a food critic and read many reviews on the Buccaneer but I disagree with many. I personally had a great expierience and would go back with my family. I enjoyed the Lobster Bisque, Escargot, Surf and Turf my wife had the Baracudda which was delicious and my children enjoyed the Pirates cutlas on a sword(Shish Kabob}. The service was absolutly wonderful and I have to say in Aruba it is hard to find good service as what we know in the U.S.A I enjoyed when the chef came out and went to every table and greeted the guests and asked how there dinner was. I would go back in a heartbeat especially when you admire your children eating their entire meal and a wife whose happy.

Buccaneer - came highly recommended

Have been to Aruba 3 times. Two times to Buccaneer. I would not go back. Main portion of meal is ok, but little piles of mushy veggies, etc fill your plate. My group of 4 adults all thought it was a plate of overcooked sides. Atmosphere ok.......service was ok...value? I wouldn't go back.
