If you don't mind a five-minute hike down to the beach, this small hillside complex offers excellent value for families. Lush landscaping snakes around the two-story buildings and pool. The handsomely appointed duplex accommodations feature most of the comforts of home, though the decor is hardly original and the ventilation poor. Larger units have verandahs with ocean views but aren't worth the higher tariff. Guests enjoy privileges at Rex Halcyon Cove's bustling beach; use of its tennis and water-sports facilities is always discounted. Other dining and recreational options abound along Dickenson Bay. This agreeable enclave is often inexplicably empty, so ask about last-minute reductions and check its Web site for specials.
