Sticky Wicket

$$-$$$, Caribbean, Coolidge

User Rating: ** 2.4

Fodor's Review:

With a dining room framed by flagstone columns and a trendily open kitchen, this is one of the classiest sports bars imaginable. Cricket is the overriding theme, but whether you're sitting in the posh lounge surrounded by cricket memorabilia or outside on the patio overlooking the equally handsome Stanford Cricket Ground, you can enjoy everything from snacks, such as the definitive conch fritters, to standouts that include ribs and beef brisket. The potent house cocktails and daily specials -- sterling mahimahi with a passion fruit, mango, and lime salsa, not to mention the ambience -- remain pure Antillean. This is a splendid respite while waiting for your flight at the airport across the road.

A nice chioce if you're by the airport

If you're near the airport or doing business with one of the many Stanford companies, like I was, that take up the whole area,or if you like cricket, you should give this place a look see. It's comfortable, the food is good and the drinks are strong. The service, well let's just say some people say it's "un-Caribbean like" since they seem to be prompt, but I didn't take that away from my experience. I enjoyed the basic food items, ribs, chicken, I didn't get too into some of the more exotic fare. I don't know much about cricket, and it's not all that interesting to me, but if you are a cricket fan, I think you will enjoy the ambience here since the restaurant seems to bill itself as some type of hall of fame for cricket.
