Because it caters to large numbers of package tourists, Antigua has a fairly wide variety of sports and activity outfitters offering many different kinds of adventure and sightseeing tours that include hiking, kayaking, and snorkeling trips. Antigua's waters also teem with big-game fish, so deep-sea fishing is a popular option. Constant trade winds also make Antigua an excellent windsurfing destination.
The island even has its own "Stingray City" reminiscent of the original in Grand Cayman.
Because of a strong boating culture on the island, day sails are also good, and you can rent a sailboat for a long or short time. The island is somewhat unsung as a diving destination.
Golfers may not be overly impressed by the quality of Antigua's two courses, but they will be pleased with the green fees compared to those on other islands.
A trip to Barbuda and its exquisite beach is always welcome. The more adventurous may prefer to get a bit more off the beaten path and make a day trip over to Montserrat to see its occasionally spewing, sputtering, active volcano.
