Anguillians are polite and very sociable people. They will always greet you with warmth and will expect to exchange polite comments about the day or the weather before getting down to business. It's considered quite rude not to do so -- so smile and join in the pleasantries; you might even make a friend. Personal appearances are important, and it's considered unseemly not to dress neatly -- this is not a gym-shorts and tank-top island. European visitors should note that topless bathing, by law, is not permitted anywhere on the island.
