Youthful, active couples from around the globe happily fill this casual, three-story, white-stucco building hidden in a palm grove just off the beach. Units are neat and simply furnished, with tile floors and pastel matelassé bedspreads; ocean views are best from the top floor. On the ground floor are four large deluxe apartment suites that are great for families. People return year after year, thanks to the management's dedicated hospitality. The creative restaurant, Zara's, is a popular draw, as is the less expensive Gwen's Reggae Grill, a boisterous and colorful beachside joint with an upscale, frat-party atmosphere. Look into special summer packages. Pros: Right on Shoal Bay's action, young crowd, good restaurant. Cons: Location requires a car; rooms are clean, but not at all fancy, beach and pool lounges are aging poorly.
