This flamingo-pink Mediterranean-style complex on the beautiful champagne sands of Meads Bay was redone in 2008. The attractive units are nicely decorated and fully equipped, with brand-new kitchens and marble baths. Perfect for independent travelers, the feel here is more condo than resort. Accommodations range from simple rooms to a three-bedroom apartment. Larger units have full kitchens and laundry facilities and are well suited for families and for longer stays. Try to get a room with an ocean view; Nos. 1 to 8 have the best vistas. Check on special packages and rates that include meals and excursions. Straw Hat restaurant ($$$-$$$$), an island favorite, relocated here with the renovation, and serves all day long on a broad patio right on the beach. Pros: great beach; good location for restaurants and resort-hopping; first-rate on-site restaurant; helpful staff. Cons: not the greatest pool area.

My wife and I spent 8 glorious nights at Frangipani May 7, 2007--through--May 15, 2007. We went to Frangipani over 10 years ago, but this most recent visit was one of the best times we spent on Anguilla. We have been going to Anguilla for over 19 years and have stayed everywhere. To begin the rooms are perfectly positioned directly on one of the best beaches in the world. They are clean, spacious and have every amenity you could ask for. If there was anything we needed, the office attended to it immediately. All of this just 5 steps from the beach !!! The pool is immaculate and extremely inviting---we spent time at the beach, then would go to the pool. The Meads Bay Grill had a wonderful breakfast, lunch, and for dinner Marlon the chef would ask us what we wanted and he would make it to perfection!Ed, the General Manager and his staff couldn't do enough for us. They were always there and were friendly and always helpful. I could go on and on but the best way to describe our wonderful time at Frangipani---we booked another 8 nights , but his time we're bringing our family--July, 2007 !

Be aware that numerous people have commented to avoid this hotel. As the holidays are upon us, I am reminded of my terrible stay at this hotel and the horrible service that the GM provided. Avoid this hotel, but enjoy the beach. Sad to say that this one hotel and it's top management makes such a nice island look so bad. Avoid this hotel....
