Nightlife in Anguilla

Anguilla Nightlife

In late February or early March, on the first full moon before Easter, reggae star and impresario Bankie Banx stages Moonsplash, a three-day music festival that showcases local and imported talent. The boat races on Anguilla Day in May is the most important island sporting event of the year. At the end of July is the Anguilla Summer Festival, with boat races by day and Carnival parades, calypso

competitions and parties at night. Some years there is a Jazz Festival, check the Tourist Board website for information.

Most hotels and many restaurants offer live entertainment in high season and on weekends: it might include pianists, jazz combos, or traditional steel and calypso bands. Friday and Saturday, Sandy Ground is the hot spot; Wednesday and Sunday the action shifts to Shoal Bay East.

The nightlife scene here runs late into the night—the action doesn't really start until after 11 pm. If you do not rent a car, be aware that taxis are not readily available at night. If you plan to take a taxi back to your hotel or villa at the end of the night, be sure to make arrangements in advance with the driver who brings you or with your hotel concierge.
