Passports and Visas

Visitors to Papua New Guinea must have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry. 60-day tourist visas can be obtained on arrival at the airport. Once inside the terminal, change money to get the 100 kina fee you will need to pay, fill out a form, and take this along with one passport photo to the immigration desk. To avoid queues, you can also apply in advance at a PNG diplomatic mission overseas. Visas are difficult to extend, and there are heavy penalties for overstaying. Extending a visa can take up to two weeks.
