InterContinental Wellington Review

In the heart of the business district, and a stone's throw from the waterfront, this landmark high-rise gets the details right. The spacious art deco-inspired foyer is complemented by ferns, orchids, and fruit bowls (help yourself). New Zealand paintings and prints line the hallways and the guest rooms, which also have a faintly deco style. The standard rooms have one or two queen beds and plasma-screen TV, with quality embossed wallpaper. The top-end "club rooms" are more modern; snowy white duvets on the king-size beds stand out against the dark-wood furnishings. There's even a 24-hour car service.
