Paua World
Paua World Review
For a unique souvenir, visit Paua World. Just off the main highway in Carterton, Paua World is an interesting and informative diversion. Paua (akin to abalone) has been collected by the Maori since ancient times. The rainbow-color shell interiors are highly prized (used by the Maori to represent eyes in their statues) and are polished and processed, then turned into jewelry and other gifts. Open daily 9-5.
