The Potters Kiln Café

The Potters Kiln Café Review

If you've got wanderlust and an appetite, drive out to this tiny cottage in the Reikorangi Potteries, 48 km (30 mi) from town. Bacon-and-egg pie or ground beef lasagna, both served with salad, are a great choice for lunch and there are mouth-watering cheesecakes and lemon meringue pies. Pottery and paintings fill the walls, as do interesting curios—an old wooden butter churn stands next to a small accordion. To get here from Wellington, take State Highway 1 north to Waikanae and turn right at the second traffic light. Cross the train tracks, and in about 4½ km (2¾ mi) turn left into the Reikorangi Potteries.
