Fodor's Review

If you've got wanderlust and an appetite, drive out to this tiny cottage in the Reikorangi Potteries, 48 km (30 mi) from town. Bacon-and-egg pie or ground beef lasagna, both served with salad, are a great choice for lunch and there are mouth-watering cheesecakes and lemon meringue pies. Pottery and paintings fill the walls, as do interesting curios—an old wooden butter churn stands next to a small accordion. To get here from Wellington, take State Highway 1 north to

Waikanae and turn right at the second traffic light. Cross the train tracks, and in about 4½ km (2¾ mi) turn left into the Reikorangi Potteries.
