Wither Hills' impressive complex is an architectural delight of river rock, tile, concrete, and wood, fronted by a dramatic tussock planting. The three-story tower gives a commanding view across the middle Wairau Valley and the Wither Hills to the south. Various tastings are available, including some award-winning sauvignon blancs and Rieslings. The winery restaurant is extremely popular. Guests can relax at alfresco tables, lounge on bean bags scattered across the lawn, or opt for more formal seating inside. There's a "vine library," which is in fact a collection of every wine grape grown in New Zealand—30 of them lined up across the front of the winery.
