One of the largest and oldest Nelson wineries, Waimea Estates has been creating award-winning wines since 1997. The range includes sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, pinot gris, riesling, viognier, pinot noir, and a delicious blended red called "Trev's Red," after the colorful owner. The well-crafted dessert wines and a funky "strawberries-and-cream" rosé are also worth trying. Their Café in the Vineyard is open for lunch daily, featuring local scallops, green-lipped mussels,
cheese, and more. There's a lot of focus on matching food with the Waimea Estate wines, understandably. Changing exhibitions feature Nelson artists and live jazz often plays.
