Fodor's Review

Croatian-born George Fistonich was one of the pioneers of New Zealand wines. He established his first Villa Maria winery near Auckland in 1961. Now the company has several wineries around the country, including this one in Marlborough that's known for Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Riesling. Villa Maria wines from other regions, such as the heavier Hawke's Bay reds, are also available for tastings.
