The purpose-built cheese and deli room from the previous incarnation of this café remain, adding interest to this great daytime eatery, as does the live bee display, which provides much of the honey used in menu dishes. There's a significant selection of gluten- and dairy-free options and a flash "turbo chef oven," which owner Rachel promises will deliver "no soggy pies." A breakfast menu (Eggs Bennie, Smokey Mushrooms, Bacon Buttie), cabinet food running all day, and lunch dishes that change with the seasons are on offer here, and, as Rachel says, "a menu is just the start of a conversation." Coffee is from Christchurch roaster, Empire. On your way out, stock up from the deli.
