Stonefly Lodge Review

This spacious, newly built eco-lodge captures a magnificent view over the Motueka River, with an intimate peep of Mt. Arthur thrown in as well. Off the national grid, but firmly on the lodge circuit, its lofty wooden spaces, generous use of glass, and river-stone pillars unite the lodge strongly with its remote setting. Guest rooms each have a balcony with extensive views, hand-crafted wooden furniture, and luxurious bathrooms—two with spa bath. Hosts Kate and John can advise on local fly-fishing and guides, and run transfers to/from Nelson Airport and activities in the Abel Tasman National Park. Wineries, artists, and restaurants are within easy reach. Stonefly uses passive solar, hydro, and wind to generate power and heat.
