The Resurgence Review

Named for the resurgence of the nearby Riwaka River this superb eco-lodge sits snugly under the Takaka Hill, seemingly far from civilization, yet you're just 15 minutes from Kaiteriteri and 20 minutes from Motueka. Surrounded by regenerating native forest and stunning scenery the Qualmark five-star and Enviro Gold–rated lodge is built of local timbers, using sustainable methods, and has every luxury. Accommodations are in free-standing bush chalets and villas, with four lodge rooms in the main house. Hosts Clare and Peter have a great love of the natural environment and there are some fabulous conversations at complimentary predinner drinks or the delicious table d'hôte dinner to follow (if you've booked one of the "luxury dinner" bed-and-breakfast packages). Or you can cook up your own barbecue dinner as you watch the sun go down. Babies under 12 months are welcomed, but not children ages 1–18.
