Golden Bay Holiday Park

Pros

  • Seaside location, playground for the kids

Cons

  • You'll need to book well ahead in midsummer, even for a tent site

Fodor's Review

Out of Golden Bay's many scenic camp areas, Golden Bay Holiday Park at Tukurua Beach, is one of the best. Options here range across tent and powered sites, cabins with shared kitchen and bathrooms, and two stylish, self-contained cottages (Tukurua Beach Houses) right on the beachfront. Wherever you are, you'll sleep to the sound of the sea. If you want to be part of a true NZ summer experience then come in January when the place is full with families on their annual summer

holiday. There'll be swimming and kayaking, barbecues, lots of kids, outdoor movies at night, driftwood fires, and long evenings on the beach. (Or if something a little more peaceful is your preference, avoid this time like the plague!) A nice touch for campers are lockable cupboards with power points for charging your devices.
