Bronte Country Estate Review

Sitting by the edge of the Waimea Estuary, this lodge (which is actually a number of villas and suites) gets you right down to the water. At high tide, the lawn outside the villas is lapped by the sea and at low tide you can walk out onto the sandflats. The villas are decorated with original works by well-known local artists. The 2-acre garden, which slopes down to the sea, is draped with flowering wisteria and shaded by tall trees. Should you be feeling competitive, you can play a game of pétanque (bocce) or tennis or take a swim in the heated pool. They also have their own small vineyard and orchard next door. Also on-site is a two-bedroom luxury villa (NZ$1,230 for two, fully hosted option).
