If you're in Nelson on a Saturday morning, head down to Montgomery Square, off Trafalgar Street, to the Nelson Saturday Market, held from 8 till 1pm. This market is one of the most successful in the country; it gained its reputation from the wealth of artists and craftspeople who sell their wares here. Now locals and visitors can rely on good bargains while wandering through the maze of stalls, browsing the fresh produce, handmade breads and cheeses, clothing, artwork, flowers, ceramics, and more.
