Straw Lodge Review

Down a quiet lane near the Wairau River, Straw Lodge is about as peaceful as it gets. The Qualmark five-star, Enviro Gold accommodation is located right on a working, certified organic vineyard. The main buildings are of solid straw-bale construction, making them extra quiet, warm in winter, and cool in summer. Start your day with breakfast under the grape-covered pergola overlooking the lodge's working vineyard, and end it with a hot tub soak under the stars, sipping the lodge's own excellent World's End vintage. A very comfy self-catering vineyard cottage is available if you prefer to do it yourself. There is a complimentary platter and wine tasting on arrival, also free bikes (including electric). Guests are welcome to join the family on the vineyard, should they wish.
