Fodor's Review:

Relax in an idyllic part of the spectacular Abel Tasman National Park, surrounded by native bush, two minutes' walk to the beach. You can sea-kayak to the lodge or walk, as the Abel Tasman Track passes right through the property. To reach the lodge by boat, contact Aqua Taxis (03/527-8083 or 0800/278-282), which leaves from Marahau daily, or fly direct from Nelson with Nelson Helicopters (03/528-8075). Choose from luxurious studio, standard, or family rooms. The attached restaurant serves stylish regional cuisine; most of the produce is grown organically on the property. The restaurant is also open to walkers off the park's Coastal Track and visitors arriving by boat, from 8 to 4:30. Pros: One of the few lodges in the country surrounded by national park, very special spot well worth the effort to reach it, active management policy for a nearby wetland. Con: Tricky to get to but there are options to suit all budgets.
