Wairau River Wines

Wairau River Wines Review

Phil and Chris Rose were among the first contract grape growers in Marlborough. Now they produce a notably good range of classic Marlborough-grown wines under their own label. The tasting room is made from mud bricks and has two log-fires in winter. Outside in summer you can relax on the sun-drenched lawns. The winery also operates a restaurant concentrating on local produce, which is open noon–3 and popular with the locals—reservations recommended on weekends. Try the multiaward-winning sauvignon blanc and other varietals, all from the Wairau River estate vineyards.
