With just the road running between the front door and the sea, Woodi and John Moore's graceful 1905 villa has one of the best waterfront locations in town. Evening drinks (sipping from the Waterford crystal) and snacks on the sweeping verandah with your hosts can be quite memorable. Overlooking Haulashore Island and the harbor entrance, the house features native rimu-wood floors and luxurious furnishings, adorned with local artwork and historic maritime photographs. Pure wool rugs and carpets warm the floors while heavy feather duvets warm the beds. Rich reds and soothing whites make up the decor. Breakfast is guaranteed to be different every day of your stay. Hospitality here is legendary, and make sure you ask for one of Woodi's personalized maps, showing you the features of the region. Your hosts also love the sea—John runs a RYA sailing school (Sail Nelson) and you are welcome to set sail with him. Children over 14 are welcome but no roll-away beds provided.
