All guest rooms at Mike and Lynley's little piece of paradise in the heart of the Marlborough Sounds are scrupulously clean and most have verandas with bush-framed views of the sound. When it comes to facilities guests want for nothing—a modern, fully equipped kitchen, spacious and comfortable lounge, kayaks, dinghies, fishing lines, bikes, hammocks, and a hot tub that looks out from the bush across the sound. This is a self-catering lodge but you can order whopping
pizzas, homemade bread, espressos, and fresh eggs, and if you're lucky your visit will coincide with a "mussel night" when Mike harvests buckets of fresh mussels from a local marine farm and steams them up for all to share. You can go fishing in a dinghy, swim off the little beach, gather shellfish at low tide, walk any number of coastal or forest reserve tracks, take a bike ride around the bays, or take a book to a hammock then have a massage (a trained therapist lives on-site).
