Fodor's Review

Designed by the architect of the national museum Te Papa in Wellington, this contemporary waterfront complex complements its surrounding native bush and seascape. Stacked across a sunny hillside, the Kumatage Lounge and Foredeck Restaurant, and the wonderfully furnished units with private verandas, overlook the surrounding bays. The restaurant specializes in fresh local foods and goodies baked on-site. There's also a waterside cafe at the jetty for something more casual. A day spa and resident therapist offer a range of treatments. The resort is built on a steep site so ask for a lower room if mobility is a problem. The easiest way in is by water taxi from Picton, but there is a helipad or floatplane if you prefer—or you could walk in on the Queen Charlotte Track! Cruising, dolphin, and bird-watching tours, mountain bikes, bushwalks, kayaking, and fishing charters all at your front door, and Wi-Fi throughout the property.
