Twenty minutes south of Te Anau, this B&B sits on one of New Zealand's prettiest and most pristine lakes—Lake Manapouri. The Murrell family has run this historic property since 1889. Play croquet, walk over to the wharf for a boat tour of Doubtful Sound, or curl up in the library by the fire. Pro: A perfect launching point to explore crystal clear Lake Manapouri or incredible Doubtful Sound. Con: It's a bit of a detour from the usual tourist circuit.
