The large rooms here have balconies and separate seating areas, and views up and down the Shotover River are to die for. Check out the open-air whirlpool here, perched on the edge of Shotover Valley; it's perfect with a glass of champagne. The lodge is a 10-minute drive from Queenstown on the road to Coronet Peak, one of the top ski areas in the country. The bright glassed-in public rooms give it an especially cheerful quality, even if the weather outside is less than gorgeous.
