A relaxed yet refined evening restaurant and bar, housed in a restful little 1950s art deco villa, this will rival any big city fine dining outlet. Take your pick of eating on the deck overlooking the marina, inside surrounded by the whitewashed walls, or out back in the garden of ferns and flowers. The small but well-thought-out menu changes with the seasons, always promises local seafood (crispy line-caught fish fillet cooked a la plancha with skordalia, asparagus, and saffron beurre blanc) and other treats, like char-grilled beef with black truffle mashed potato. A seven-course degustation menu is available (NZ$105 per person). Tapas plates to share are a feature, especially during happy hour (or two) from 4 to 6 pm. The best local food suppliers are well supported.
