$$$-$$$$, French, Havelock North
Fodor's Review:
The massive cedar doors and high circular roof give this well-regarded restaurant at Craggy Range Winery a rustic feel. Although the menu is loosely country French, "rustic" here is far from unsophisticated. The open wood fire turns out dishes such as pepper-encrusted beef fillet with herb hollandaise, and spit-roasted chicken with red-wine-radicchio risotto. From the eclectic dessert offerings, thin apple tart with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream is an appealing choice. On a warm evening, you can dine on the terrace with views of Te Mata Peak.
