¢-$$$$, Contemporary, Arrowtown
Fodor's Review:
With its dark wood and elegant atmosphere, this place is much more chichi than you'd expect to find in the heart of rural New Zealand. The evening menu features the best of local foods -- venison, lamb, snapper, pheasant, beef, local wines, and beautiful fresh vegetables. The rack of Southland lamb with mint-and-onion sauce is heavenly. Lunch takes a lighter spin with omelets, stir-fries, and egg dishes. Reserving a table in advance is a good idea when heading here.
