Fodor's Review

The collection includes Māori tools and weapons and some fine portraits and outlines the history of the area. The pride of its display is a reproduction of Captain Cook's ship, HMS Endeavour, which entered the bay in 1769. A short video recounts the history of the region. The museum is set back slightly from the waterfront, some 50 yards north of Pompallier House.
