Fodor's Expert Review Mangonui Hotel

This classic wooden two-story pub sits just a few feet from Mangonui's harbor and has a New Zealand Historic Places Trust classification. From the outside it looks almost the same as when it was built in 1905. The upstairs guest rooms are basic, small, and fitted in the style of the early-1900s hotel but with clever styling to incorporate modern conveniences. It is still the center of town and used by local groups for a wide range of community gatherings.
