Bridge to Nowhere. Jet-boat trips run from Pipiriki to the Bridge to Nowhere (a four-hour trip) and other natural and historic sights. Whanganui River Adventures. Ken and Josephine Haworth grew up on the river and now run a Pipiriki-based company with tours to the Bridge to Nowhere as well as shorter trips to such scenic delights as the Drop Scene and Manganui o te Ao River. They also provide shuttles for mountain bikers, canoeists, and hikers and have a café and delightfully landscaped campground on the grounds of the former Pipiriki School. Whanganui Scenic Experience Jet. Owned and operated by local farmer Mark Wickham, this outfit offers 1½- to 5-hour tours that can include morning or afternoon tea stops at scenic and historic spots along the river. Trips generally start from the Wickham family farm, a scenic 30-minute drive from Wanganui city, though city trips can be arranged. Overnight parking for campervans is available.
