Nero Restaurant

Updated 02/18/2014

Fodor's Review

Set in a charming old Victorian-style villa in a quiet inner-city street, Nero consistently wins regional restaurant awards and received New Zealand's prestigious Beef and Lamb Excellence Award. Head chef and owner Scott Kennedy describes the cuisine as "contemporary New Zealand, along with a touch of fusion to celebrate our cultural diversity." Thus the menu features garlic pizza bread and flat Turkish bread starters as well as the signature lunch dish chicken-and-mango

curry with fragrant rice, papadum, mango chutney, and raita. Aged Angus pure beef eye fillet with shallot tarte tatin, fois gras pâté, black doris plum jubes, and potato and leek rosti features on a dinner menu that also has New Zealand pork, lamb, duck, chicken, and fish.
