Karapiro Lodge Review

Ed and Ann Rompelberg constructed a modern Edwardian mansion 20 km (12 mi) from Cambridge in 2004, where they host guests in endless luxury that only begins with the grand views across Lake Karapiro and Maungatautiri Mountain. Two ground-floor suites open to private balconies and feature hydrotherapy spa showers, divine beds with goosedown duvets, chandeliers with dimmers, and leather easy chairs—and they are simply humble compared to the Versace Suite and Sir Tristram Room that share the entire upper level of the house. There are a cozy guest lounge, a guest pool, hot tub, and sauna. Hearty, home-cooked, inclusive breakfasts are served in one of the delightfully appointed dining rooms. Ann will cook dinner by arrangement.
