This lookout provides spectacular views of the city, but reaching it—via an elevator that runs through the hill—is something else. On the opposite side of the river from the town center, directly across the bridge from the bottom of Victoria Avenue, you first walk through a 213-meter (700-foot) tunnel to the elevator shaft. The elevator concierge, who waits at the top, will see you on camera and lower the elevator for you. Alternatively, you can climb the several hundred
steps to the lookout, plus another 176 steps up the nearby Durie Hill Memorial Tower.
