Abseil Breakfast Inn Review

This delightful B&B overlooks the green Waitomo countryside and resounds with birdsong outside and conviviality within. "Approach with enthusiasm," the sign at the bottom of the awfully steep driveway aptly warns. When hosts John and Helen say they treat you better than family, they aren't joking. Four rooms, each tastefully decorated with a local theme (bush, cave, farm, swamp), have super-queen beds and an entrance from the deck. The comfy guest lounge features recycled native timbers, books, wide-screen TV, DVD, and great views. Excellent New Zealand wines are available at reasonable prices in a trusting self-service, pay-later system. The breakfasts—including free-range eggs and local honey—are seriously good. A complimentary bottle of wine comes with Internet bookings or a stay of more than two days.
