Out in the Styx Cafe and Guesthouse Review

As the name suggests, this place is in the country, a 25-minute drive from Cambridge. The delightful rural environment includes a view of Maungatautari, and some of the North Island's most pristine native forest are a two-minute drive from the guesthouse. Guest rooms are spacious, six with king beds and four with queen beds; three have tribal themes. Listen to native birdsong while soaking in one of the two hot tubs in the garden, catch a quiet moment in one of the two small guest lounges (with tea-and-coffee facilities), or join the conviviality in the restaurant and bar, where hosts Mary and Lance Hodgson ply you with wholesome country food and enthuse about the conservation story of Maungatautari. Lance is a Trustee of the Maungatautiri Ecological Island Trust, kaka-feeding volunteer, and the "Maungatautiri After Dark" tour guide. Airport transfers from Hamilton Airport (40 minutes) can be arranged.
