Sarjeant Gallery

Sarjeant Gallery Review

On a small hill overlooking the town is the domed Sarjeant Gallery, one of New Zealand's finest art galleries and most handsome heritage buildings, renowned for its neoclassical architecture, natural lighting, and magnificent display spaces. The gallery is highly regarded for the quality of its collection and regularly changing exhibitions from local, national, and international artists. With 6,000 works of art in its care, including 19th- and 20th-century international and New Zealand art, photography, and a dynamic collection of contemporary New Zealand art to draw from, visitors are assured of a stimulating art experience. The gallery's shop stocks a quality selection of glasswork and jewelry, much of it crafted by local artists.
