Fodor's Review

Energizing the café scene in Inglewood, midway between New Plymouth and Stratford, this eatery is in a charming building that was originally the Inglewood Butchery, built in 1878. More recently, it was the first outlet of the Macfarlanes Group, which operates restaurants, bars, and the Ozone coffee roastery in New Plymouth. Current owner Kim Scown has stamped her own personality on the place. Its cozy ambience, indoor-outdoor tables, and wholesome homemade food draw both locals and travelers. Breakfast includes omelets and corn fritters; lunch features salads, pastas, soups, and curries; and dinner (Thursday to Saturday) is seasonal, contemporary New Zealand–style fare, including sirloin steak.
